Nechemya Weberman is the grandson of my grandfather Herman’s brother, Ben Zion Weberman, who was an immigration attorney who brought the Satmar Rebbe Joel Teitelbaum to Williamsburg from Israel. In this position as "driver" it was Weberman who was really the de facto leader or Rebbe of the Satmar even though he lacks smechas (ordination). I came mighty close to being brainwashed into the Satmar cult due to my heredity but luckly many Jews became disillusioned with Satmar thinking during and after the Holocaust and World War II. After millions of people were systematically murdered for no reason other than the fact they were Jewish it was hard to stomach the "Israel shouldn't exist until the Moshiach leads us back there" line of pure unadulterated bullshit. Baruch Ha'shem my grandfather, a Spanish-American war vet did not have pais or a beard like this brothers did and was pro-Israel. My uncle, Danny Webb, who changed his name from Weberman, fought in World War I and II was also a Zionist. My father was modern orthodox and pro-Israel. Israel is the greatest obstacle to another Holocaust in all of history. By opposing its existence the Satmar are playing into the hands of the Iranian and other Nazis. They are digging their own graves. The Satmar think that by having a lot of kids they are getting their revenge against the Nazis, when the fact of the matter is that their twisted anti-Zionist political and religious philosophy puts these very kids lives at risk.
The Satmar spawned the American wing of Neturi Karta, (NK) a group that supports every anti-Israeli group in existence and met with the new Hitler, the Hitler of Iran. NK took Rabbi Joel's anti-Zionist philosophy to its logical end. If Israel is standing in the way of the coming of the Messiah then it must be destroyed to hasten his coming. In 1953, when the Satmar Rebbe first "made the scene" in Williamsburg he was rabbi of Neturei Karta in Jerusalem, and visited Israel every few years. NK in Palestine predated Satmar. Rabbi Joel was also the Chief Rabbi of the American branch of Neturai Karta despite the fact they are Koferim Be-Torah heretics who must be purged from Judaism. Nechemya Weberman's uncle is NK leader William Mordechai Weberman who attended the Holocaust denial meeting in Iran and who wants to see the State of Israel destroyed. He is also related to NK leader Meir Weberman, Willie's father. Willie told John Kalish in the Foward that Nechemya davens at his shul, the Malach Shul also known as Congregation Neturi Karta.
